The World Championships return to Saitama, Japan for the third time. All of last year’s champions in singles and pairs are back to defend their titles while new champions in ice dance will be crowned.

Four years after his last appearance on the European Championship podium Matteo Rizzo made it back in January when he bagged a silver medal in Espoo, Finland. Competing in his sixth World Championships this week he now has set his sights even higher.

After fourteen years as a team, things have finally come together for Charlène Guignard and Marco Fabbri this season as they approach the World Championships in Saitama, Japan next month as Europe’s leading hope for an ice dance medal.
The World Junior Championships return to Canada this week with Calgary as host city for the very first time. All of last year’s champions have moved up to the senior ranks meaning a whole new wave of first time gold medallists will be crowned.

Exactly five years have passed since Aljona Savchenko crowned a spectacular career with an Olympic pairs gold medal with partner Bruno Massot It was her fifth attempt to win a long-cherished gold medal. She made her Olympic debut at the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City. At the time, she was just 18 years old and teamed with Stanislav Morozov representing Ukraine. They finished 15th.
The Four Continents Championships roll up to the high altitude of Colorado Springs, USA this weekend with the city playing host for the fourth time. Although there are some high profile absentees, the event is shaping up to be an exciting one nonetheless.

Exactly twelve months have passed since the conclusion of the 2022 Beijing Olympics Figure Skating Team Event and the American and Japanese athletes deprived of their moment of glory are no nearer receiving their medals.

The European Figure Skating Championships return to Finland for the first time since 2009 with the city of Espoo playing host. Russia claimed all four titles last year in Tallinn, but due to that country’s invasion of Ukraine no Russian team will participate this year and a complete new set of champions will be crowned.

France’s Maé-Bérénice Méité was already a two-time Olympian when she stepped on the ice for the short programme at the 2021 World Championships in Stockholm, Sweden to begin her quest to secure a spot for her country at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Moments later, her hopes were dashed by a serious injury that temporarily put her off the ice, but now she is back firmly on the road to recovery.
